What it means to have succeeded

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

20 people per meter

10,000 people running 5.6km... That means right at the start (and way too many meters afterwards) you have around 20 runners (and too many walkers wanting to start the "run" right at the front) per meter...

Conclusion:
1) my clocked time was 34:17. Not too bad considering that it took already nearly 3 minutes to just cross the start line after the race had already begun - and the congestion on the track. Too many people took it with Johny Walker: "Keep on walking"

2) Besides the downsides a good event. We nearly had 40 runners from DHL, all wearing shirts with the slogan "A million feet worldwide" on the back (Why the slogan? our group has 500,000 staff worldwide...)
